We'll slowly gather our belongings,
cautiously but without fear.
There is an authority that has bestowed upon on us
a less than savoury taste on our tongues.
She is sweet but like saccharin.
false but steadfast,
significant to the tastebuds.
Has she slyly injected my veins with ice?
My blood runs cold when she speaks.

  2. Ooo this is great! I love how you allude to the tense environment through subtle hints: "She is sweet but like saccharin"--So creative!

I enjoy reading your work everyday because I find that it sparks ideas for my own writing. Thanks so much for the post :-)
